Nokia N97 advantages over Nokia 5800
- Display- N97 has a wider 3.5″ touchscreen display, 5800 has 3.2″. Resolution is same in both devices (640 X 360).
- Memory- N97 comes up with 48GB memory capacity (32GB internal & 16GB memory card supported). Nokia 5800 has 81MB internal memory and upto 16GB of card storage.
- Camera- 5 Megapixel Camera in N97, Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 MP.
- Gaming- N-Gage gaming capabilities included in Nokia N97. No support yet for the same in Nokia 5800.
- Keyboard- A full QWERTY sliding keyboard is also included in N97.
- Widgets- Live personalized home screen with widgets for web services and social sites in N97.
Just for the sake of it, the following are the advantages of Nokia 5800 over Nokia N97 though none of them is a functional advantage-
- Comes with Music- Nokia 5800 has a bundled service called ‘Comes With Music’ which allows unlimited music downloads from milions of tracks for one full year- Absolutely Free! Nokia N97 will not have that (Lets hope it does)
- Weight- Nokia 5800 weighs just 109g while N97 is much heavier at 150g.
- Size- Nokia 5800 has compact size of 111 X 51.7 X 15.5 mm while N97 has a dimension of 117.2 x 55.3 x 15.9~18.3mm (Which can also be looked at as an advantage, even I like my phone and screen bigger)
- Colors- Nokia 5800 comes with more trendy and appealing colors like Red, Blue and Black while N97 has usual White & Black, not to miss Silver
- Availability- Nokia 5800 is launched in some countries already and all set to launch in other parts of the world in Q1 of 2009. Nokia N97 has an expected wait period of over 6 months (Duh!)
- Price- Nokia 5800 is half the price of N97. Nokia 5800 costs just 279 Euros while N97 has a price tag of 550 Euros before taxes and subsidies.
Both handsets seem to be aimed for seperate market ranges. The N97 incorporates several elements from the Nokia 5800 and goes a few steps further feature-wise but the 5800 Xpress Music wins at price and other factors.
Nokia 5800, a pure fun device with ultimate music, multimedia and entertainment capabilities delivers the touch phone to mid-range markets. The Nokia N97, on the other hand is a high-range device, fully capable to replace a laptop and may appeal more to the business and high-end class.
5800 has very low internal memory compared to N97. I am surely going for N97 just hoping it gets launch in Europe by this summer...
ReplyDeleteNobody's talking about the sound capability of dis phone...one drawback of most nokia fones is the very low volume when earphones are attached, plus lower quality when compared to other fones...
ReplyDeletehow does this one fare in that dept?
N97 certainly seems to be much more advanced phone than the Nokia 5800 - seems like a very intelligent choice for today's mobile phone-addicted consumer!
ReplyDeleteYa thats true, though in 5800, upto 16 GB of card storage is supported which solves the purpose. N97 though beats that by quite a distance!
ReplyDeleteHey, I have tried a 5800 and sound is great. Though I won't say it is very very loud, but the quality of sound is amazing, with or without earphones! Am sure N97 would be even better..
ReplyDeleteN 97 looks amazing. You name the feature and it is present in it. It is the most complete phone to come in the market ever. though there is very little scope for further improvement I would not put it beyond Nokia to come out with an even better phone in the future
ReplyDeleteN97 seems to be a complete package in itself. The more I look at it quickly the word 'seems' fades into assurance
ReplyDeleteI am just waiting to get my hands on this technology marvel..
ReplyDeleteNOKIA has proved that its the best in any mobile technolgy..
this site is really informative ... hats of to " Nokia N97: The Power of Touch " ....
ReplyDeleteNokia N97 certainly has the substance and style to take on the big boy(u know THE PHONE). I think that it looks like a pretty sweet device, and I'm looking forward to having some personal hands-on time with it.
ReplyDelete"N97 has a wider 3.5″ touchscreen display, 5800 has 3.2″. Resolution is same in both devices (640 X 360)." ... OMG ... plzzz can't nokia shorten the waiting period .... CAN NOT wait 6 months!
ReplyDeletei think i will take a loan to buy this phone...
ReplyDeleteHehe, even I am thinking of taking a loan (from my parents ;P) to buy this sexy thing!
ReplyDeleteyou know the best part is that 5800 is an amazing phone, and the first time i used it i was in awe of it... and if it gets better, it has to be something mindbogglingly amazing!!
ReplyDeleteIt is an awesome cell phone, saw it today at the mall and would surely want to grab one soon!!
ReplyDeleteWas wondering if apple is coming up with a new version of I-phone??? I-Phone 4G or something !
ReplyDeletejust got to this blog accidentally ... i really like the comparison ... but i own an I-phone & its pretty o.k.... Why should i switch??
ReplyDeleteu can if you want a better phone ;)
ReplyDeleteI guess thats what a lot of people would have in their mind...but then am sure if you're an I-phone user, that means you're tech savvy enough, and definitely if you want to keep up with the technology, then doesn't the I-phone looks a little outdated, specially in front of this?!
ReplyDeleteHaven't been a Nokia fan, but this phone has extremely interesting features :) I think the phone should'nt be compared to lower class phone like 5800 but to its competitors like iphone. 5800 gets beaten badly in front of this phone :)
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI have a 5800 and I used to feel wonderful about it, was totally in love with device. And I don't want it anymore, coz I want N97 :(
ReplyDeleteWell even I bought a 5800 recently and now I think I should have waited...but anyway, let the phone come and I'll make a quick switch ;P
ReplyDeleteRight Shobhith, I think the target customers for Nokia will be different than 5800!
ReplyDeletedefinitely much better than 5800..
ReplyDeleteTechnology has brought us so many changes from getting to point A to point B minus the traffic hence the GPS was born to being constantly online with a simple flick of a hand, mobile phones. What do we do without them?
